INSPIRING JOURNEY OF A YOUNG BOY FROM BRAHMPURI (INDIA) TO SILICON VALLEY (USA)

These are not merely words. They represent the belief and philosophy of a young boy who began dreaming at the age of 16 and went on to build technology companies with a vision that reached from a small town in India to Silicon Valley, USA.

This is the inspiring story of Mr. Sahil Chawla, Founder of Tsecond Generation Technology Pvt. Ltd. and Co-founder of Tsecond Inc.

His journey is a powerful example of what can happen when curiosity is transformed into innovation, dreams are backed by determination and challenges are treated as opportunities.

FROM A SMALL TOWN TO A BIG DREAM

Success rarely happens overnight.

Behind every successful entrepreneur are countless hours of experimentation, failures, learning, persistence and perseverance.

For Sahil Chawla, the journey began in Brahmpuri, India, long before the idea of Silicon Valley entered his imagination.

As an eight-year-old boy, Sahil developed a strong curiosity about vehicles and electronics. What began as childhood curiosity gradually evolved into a passion for technology and innovation.

He chose Science for his intermediate studies and later pursued Computer Science Engineering at G.H. Raisoni College, Nagpur.

While academics were not necessarily his biggest passion, innovation and practical projects fascinated him.

He actively participated in project competitions representing his college, where his innovative ideas helped him achieve success repeatedly.

For Sahil, these competitions were more than contests.

They were opportunities to transform ideas into something real.

THE DREAM BEGAN AT 16

By the age of 16, Sahil had already started thinking seriously about his future.

He had a plan.

The pieces, however, were still scattered.

He knew he wanted to create something of his own, but he also understood that knowledge and experience would be essential to turn his vision into reality.

With the intention of gaining deeper technical and professional exposure, Sahil joined a multinational IT company.

But after only three months, he realized that the learning opportunities available to him were limited.

He was faced with a choice:

Choose a comfortable career—or take the risk of pursuing an adventurous vision.

He chose the latter.

He left his IT job and began building his own startup.

That decision marked the beginning of Tsecond.

FROM SOFTWARE TO REAL-WORLD INNOVATION

Tsecond initially started with software applications and website solutions.

But Sahil felt that something was still missing.

His fascination with embedded electronics encouraged him to explore how technology could solve everyday problems in the physical world.

Then came an ordinary moment that sparked an extraordinary idea.

While filling fuel at a petrol station, Sahil noticed something that made him question the accuracy of the existing fuel-gauging system.

Instead of simply accepting what he saw, he became curious.

He researched different fuel-gauging technologies and eventually developed the concept of an electronic fluid gauging system.

That idea became the foundation of Tsecond's flagship product:

E-Funnel

The product was protected through the Berne Convention in 2014, marking an important milestone in the company's innovation journey.

Sometimes, entrepreneurship begins with nothing more than a question:

“Can this be done better?”

Sahil's curiosity turned that question into a product.

BUILDING TSECOND FROM THE GROUND UP

In 2014, Tsecond was registered as a Private Limited company, with Research and Development at the heart of its operations.

The early years were filled with challenges.

There were long nights, experiments, prototypes, financial pressures and countless decisions.

But the team kept moving.

In 2015, Tsecond developed its first prototype.

Then, in 2016, the company received its first angel investment from a Nagpur-based angel investor.

For Sahil, funding was not simply money to be spent.

He believed that funds should be used as an investment to build new capabilities and create new business opportunities.

That philosophy helped Tsecond expand its technological and business horizons.

THE POWER OF COLLABORATION

As Tsecond grew, the company developed relationships with several individuals and organizations.

LocationGuru Solutions Pvt. Ltd. played a role as a marketing lead, while Napino Auto and Electronics Limited contributed to the final development of E-Funnel before its commercial launch.

Sahil's approach to work was straightforward:

“Time is not a constraint when you are working towards creating technology that you believe in.”

That philosophy became part of the company's culture.

The team worked relentlessly because they believed in what they were building.

THE FIRST BIG BREAK

Every entrepreneur dreams of the day when an idea becomes a successful commercial product.

For Tsecond, that moment came when American Tower Corporation (ATC) became a customer.

E-Funnel addressed a critical problem related to fuel pilferage, demonstrating that the technology could solve a real-world industrial challenge.

The product subsequently received patents in India and the USA.

But developing the technology was only one part of the journey.

Tsecond also focused heavily on implementation.

Its engineering team worked with partners to test products before delivery, manage installations and provide on-ground support.

Shipments, collections, customer requests and installations were managed by the engineering team itself.

This dedication eventually led to another milestone:

100 E-Funnel installations across six states of India.

The idea that began with an observation at a fuel station had now become a technology deployed across the country.

FROM NAGPUR TO THE GLOBAL STAGE

The success of Tsecond began attracting attention.

The company's story received media coverage, including recognition through YourStory, while Sahil's entrepreneurial journey earned several accolades.

Among the recognitions associated with his journey were:

  • Best Startup of the Region Award – 2017

  • Global Nagpur Awards

  • Collision Conference – 2018, New Orleans

  • Recognition by Silicon India Startup City Magazine among the top 20 promising hardware startups in its 2018 edition

Sahil was also invited to share his entrepreneurial experiences through platforms such as Josh Talks, TiECon 2018, The Weekend Leader and LawSikho.

His journey was featured in leading publications, including The Economic Times and The Times of India.

The recognition opened another important door.

In 2019, Tsecond attracted international investment from a US-based technology fund and LEPL USA, Inc., amounting to $370,000.

The journey from Brahmpuri was now reaching an international stage.

WHEN THE WORLD STOPPED: THE COVID-19 CHALLENGE

Then came 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought businesses around the world to an unprecedented standstill.

Supply chains were disrupted.

Raw-material imports were affected.

Nationwide lockdowns created uncertainty.

Businesses had to rethink how they operated.

Tsecond was no exception.

The company's existing funds were expected to last for only a few months.

At that moment, the team faced a difficult decision.

They could give up.

Or they could adapt.

They chose to stay together.

The team agreed to continue working while searching for new opportunities and a sustainable path forward.

For the next twelve months, the company navigated one of the most challenging periods in its history.

It was during this difficult phase that Sahil realized something important:

The company needed to pivot.

THE JOURNEY TO SILICON VALLEY

The crisis became an opportunity to rethink the future.

With persistence, strategic thinking and relentless effort, Sahil began steering Tsecond towards a new technological direction.

The destination was Silicon Valley, California.

In 2020, Tsecond Inc. was founded in the Bay Area with a larger vision:

To transform the global data-sphere by developing technologies that improve the speed, volume and efficiency with which data moves between workplaces and homes.

The company's flagship product was BRYCK—a high-density, high-speed storage form factor designed for large datasets.

The product was designed to be secure, portable and rugged, with an exceptionally high storage capacity packed into a compact form factor.

The company that had begun in a small Indian town was now building technology in one of the world's most important technology ecosystems.

THE THREE P's OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

According to Sahil, three qualities are essential for building a successful business:

Patience. Persistence. Perseverance.

These three principles are visible throughout his journey.

Patience helped him survive uncertainty.

Persistence helped him continue when the road became difficult.

Perseverance helped him turn ideas into products and products into businesses.

He credits his father as an important source of inspiration and considers hard work one of the most important lessons he learned from him.

His work ethic reflects that philosophy, with Sahil dedicating extremely long hours to his vision.

He also draws inspiration from personalities such as Steve Jobs, Nikola Tesla, Ratan Tata and Anand Mahindra.

His personal philosophy is simple:

“Do your best and karma will do the rest.”

ENTREPRENEURSHIP WITH A PURPOSE

For Sahil, entrepreneurship is not only about economic development.

He believes economic growth is incomplete without social welfare.

Technology should not exist merely because something is technically possible.

It should solve problems.

It should simplify life.

It should create opportunities.

And it should ultimately contribute to society.

His approach to innovation is deeply connected with lifestyle and mindset.

As he believes, our thoughts are influenced by the way we live. Therefore, to think innovatively, one must create an environment and mindset that encourages innovation.

HIS MESSAGE TO YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

Sahil has a strong message for young people who want to become entrepreneurs.

Having an innovative idea is only the beginning.

Once the idea is ready, the next step is hard work.

Success may appear close, but reaching it requires taking the first step.

He believes that young entrepreneurs should not be discouraged by difficult phases.

Because every startup experiences challenges involving:

  • Product development

  • Team building

  • Funding

  • Market acceptance

  • Customer acquisition

  • Business uncertainty

The difference lies in how an entrepreneur responds to those challenges.

A MILLION PIECES OF A PUZZLE

Sahil describes entrepreneurship as being similar to solving a puzzle.

Sometimes, it feels as if there are a million disassembled pieces in front of you, but there is no picture showing you what the final puzzle should look like.

The only picture you have is the one inside your mind.

That is the challenge.

And that is also the beauty of entrepreneurship.

You have to keep putting the pieces together until your vision becomes reality.

His advice is powerful:

“We faced tough times related to product development, team and funds, but tough times don't last—tough people do. When I chose the path of entrepreneurship, I decided that there is no turning back.”

The lesson is not that the journey will be easy.

The lesson is that you must remain committed to the destination even when the path changes.

FROM BRAHMPURI TO SILICON VALLEY

Sahil Chawla's story is much more than the story of a startup.

It is the story of curiosity becoming innovation.

It is the story of an idea becoming a product.

It is the story of a small-town dream becoming an international technology venture.

And above all, it is a story of persistence.

From being an eight-year-old fascinated by vehicles and electronics to becoming an entrepreneur working on advanced data-storage technologies in Silicon Valley, Sahil's journey demonstrates what is possible when a person refuses to let circumstances dictate the size of their dreams.

His journey reminds every aspiring entrepreneur that the starting point does not determine the destination.

You may begin in a small town.

You may have limited resources.

You may face rejection.

You may run out of money.

You may have to completely change your business model.

You may even have to start again.

But if the vision remains strong, the journey can continue.

“Don't worry about being successful, but work towards being significant and success will naturally follow.”

That perhaps captures the essence of Sahil Chawla's entrepreneurial journey.

Dream boldly. Build patiently. Innovate relentlessly. And most importantly, create something that matters.
